The Samacá Musical Training School Special Symphonic Band (Colombia) has won the first prize in the Third Section of the International Music Band Contest (CIBM) “Ciudad de València”, which began this Thursday at the Palau de la Música . The Colombian group has obtained 315.5 points.
The second prize went to the Societat Musical La Esperanza of Sant Vicent del Raspeig, with 303.5 points, while the Associació Amics de la Música of Benifaió took third place, obtaining 284 points.
The winning band, directed by Edison Julián Ropero, has performed the pasodoble Samacá, by César Cano Arteaga and the free work Suite 1819 by Juan Velasco. The obligatory work of this section has been Celiurean Overture by the Valencian composer Julio Domingo.
The event was chaired by the Councilor for Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources and president of the Organizing Committee, José Luis Moreno, who presented the award to the winning company.
