The Symphonic Band of Samacá (Colombia) wins the Third Section of the 136 CIBM “Ciudad de València”

  • The Musical Society La Esperanza de Sant Vicent del Raspeig has won the second prize, while the Association Amics de la Música de Benifaió has won the third

The Samacá Musical Training School Special Symphonic Band (Colombia) has won the first prize in the Third Section of the International Music Band Contest (CIBM) ​​“Ciudad de València”, which began this Thursday at the Palau de la Música . The Colombian group has obtained 315.5 points.

The second prize went to the Societat Musical La Esperanza of Sant Vicent del Raspeig, with 303.5 points, while the Associació Amics de la Música of Benifaió took third place, obtaining 284 points.

The winning band, directed by Edison Julián Ropero, has performed the pasodoble Samacá, by César Cano Arteaga and the free work Suite 1819 by Juan Velasco. The obligatory work of this section has been Celiurean Overture by the Valencian composer Julio Domingo.

The event was chaired by the Councilor for Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources and president of the Organizing Committee, José Luis Moreno, who presented the award to the winning company.

 

After this first competitive session, the Competition continues today Friday with the five bands that participate in the Second Section: the Borrianenca Philharmonic Group (Castellón), the Musical Society La Familiar de Benissanó (Valencia), the Municipal Music Band of Caldas de Reis (Pontevedra ), Santa Cecilia de Sedaví Musical Group (Valencia), Puertollano Musical Band Cultural Association (Ciudad Real) and Santádega Musical Band Cultural Association (Orense).

The First Section will take place on Saturday the 20th and the Vale Martial Band (Portugal), the Musical and Artistic Sax Union (Alicante), the Moncada Musical Art Center (Valencia), the Getafe Music Band (Madrid) and Musical Protective Union of Vallada (Valencia).

Finally, the Honor Section will be held on July 21 and the Ateneu Musical Schola Cantorum de la Vall d’Uixó (Castellón) will compete in it; the Unió Musical Symphonic Band of Llíria (Valencia); the Musical Instruction Center La Armónica de Buñol (Valencia); the Instructive Society Musical Union of Tavernes de la Valldigna (Valencia); and the Artistic Musical Society of Buñol (Valencia).
